Funding description
The pilot was initially funded entirely through philanthropic contributions totaling $1.1 million, including a $500,000 donation from Square CEO Jack Dorsey, along with support from the United Way of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Foundation, Providence Community Relief Fund, and ONE Neighborhood Builders. These funds covered direct cash payments and administrative costs. Subsequently, in summer 2022 the City of Providence allocated an additional $500,000 from American Rescue Plan funds to extend the program.
